MatterOfStocks (matterofstocks.com) is operated as a sole proprietorship. For any privacy question, request, or concern, contact us at matterofstocks@gmail.com.
Account information. When you register, we store your email address, username, and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text or see it again after signup). If you subscribe to a paid plan, Stripe collects and stores your payment details directly — we never receive or store your card number.
Content you create. If you use social features, we store what you explicitly submit: watchlists, saved stock lists, comments, votes, and — if you choose to make your profile public — your follows and activity feed.
Usage data. We log standard server access data (IP address, timestamps, pages requested) for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell any usage data.
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a CSRF token to protect form submissions from cross-site attacks. Both are marked HttpOnly and Secure and are deleted or expire when you sign out. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
We do not use your data to train third-party AI models, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
We share the minimum necessary data with service providers who help us run the product:
Each of these providers only receives the data needed to perform its specific function (e.g. Stripe receives your email and subscription plan, not your MatterOfStocks password). We do not share your data with data brokers or advertisers.
Some features are opt-in and public by design. If you enable a public profile, your username, follower/following counts, and any public activity (public lists, leaderboard rank if opted in) are visible to other users and, if the page is not behind login, potentially to search engines. Your email address is never shown publicly. Comments you post on stock pages are visible to other logged-in users under your username.
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, which removes your personal data from our production systems (aggregated, de-identified data such as leaderboard history may be retained). Backups are retained for a limited period and age out on our normal backup rotation.
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time — most of this is self-service from your account page. For anything not available there, email matterofstocks@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Passwords are hashed, all traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and payment data never touches our servers — it goes directly to Stripe. We follow least-privilege access controls internally for any system that can access user data.
MatterOfStocks is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email.
